Programmed crystallization via epitaxial growth and ligand replacement towards hybridizing porous coordination polymer crystals.

Hybridized porous coordination polymers (PCPs) are synthesized through epitaxial growth or ligand replacement. Whereas epitaxial growth on the core crystal leads to a sandwich type PCP, ligand replacement near the surface of core crystal results in a core-shell type PCP.

Solid state reconstructive phase transition from porous supramolecular network to porous coordination polymer.

Herein, we present an exceptional structural transformation from a porous supramolecular network to a porous coordination polymer. The transformation involves a change of interpenetrating dimensionality from 6-fold to 5-fold. Simultaneously, the spin state of nickel(ii) is altered from S = 0 to S = 1, which is concomitant with the formation of the Ni-O(carboxylate) coordination bonds.

An octacobalt cluster based, (3,12)-connected, magnetic, porous coordination polymer.

Solvothermal reaction of CoSO(4) with 2,6-di-p-carboxyphenyl-4,4'-bipyridine affords a novel, octacobalt cluster based, (3,12)-connected porous framework, which exhibits gas sorption and spin-glassy magnetic behaviour.

Anisotropic resonant scattering from polymer photonic crystals.

Hyperspectral goniometry reveals anisotropic scattering which dominates the visual appearance of self-assembled polymer opals. The technique allows reconstruction of the reciprocal-space of nanostructures, and indicates that chain defects formed during shear-ordering are responsible for the anisotropy in these samples. Enhanced scattering with improving order is shown to arise from increased ef...

Electronic properties of polymer crystals: the effect of interchain interactions.

We present a theoretical study of the transport parameters in a prototype conjugated-polymer, poly-para-phenylenevinylene, in two different possible crystalline packings. Our analysis is performed through density-functional electronic structure calculations, and allows one to obtain the fundamental parameters describing charge transport. The transfer integrals are found to be a crucial quantity...
